The Role

As a Construction Labourer, you will support site supervisors and operators by preparing job sites, moving materials, using hand and power tools, operating small equipment, and contributing to a wide range of construction activities. Work is varied and may include concrete, rough carpentry, retaining walls, pavers, site servicing, planting, and general landscape and civil works.
This role requires reliability, initiative, and the ability to work well within a team where many employees have built long-term careers.

What Success Looks Like

Successful labourers at Hawkins:

• Follow health and safety requirements without exception
• Complete equipment and vehicle pre-use inspections and maintain a clean, organized worksite
• Work efficiently with hand and power tools and around heavy equipment and traffic
• Contribute meaningfully to layout, grades, and slopes based on direction and experience
• Perform technical tasks to a good standard and take pride in finish quality
• Show up on time, are reachable, and work expected hours

Health and safety performance is non-negotiable . Technical ability without safe work habits is not acceptable.

The Details

 

• Full-time position
• $22–$34/hour, based on demonstrated ability and experience
• Benefits and group RSP options after a waiting period
• Paid emergency and personal days, paid overtime, and additional training
• Boot allowance after a waiting period
• Annual fitness credit
  
   

Qualifications

 

• Experience in civil, landscape, utilities, environmental, or infrastructure construction
• Comfortable using hand and power tools (e.g., shovels, saws, jackhammers)
• Experience with concrete, sewer, interlock, or retaining walls
• Ability to operate a skid steer; excavator experience is an asset
• Comfortable working with and around heavy equipment
• Basic understanding of layout, grades, and slopes
• Clear verbal communication and ability to work as part of a team
• Physically fit; able to lift 50+ lbs
• Valid driver’s licence, reliable transportation, and clean driver’s abstract
